Shell is more or less round, bilayered pellicle, out layer gelatinous 812 µm with fine denticles; inner layer is thin, chitinoid, undulates with internal movements, sac-like. Aperture is invaginated, variable. Pseudopods cyllindroid, finely granular, rounded ends. Movement sluggish. Endoplasm clear, violet; yellow granules in purple vesicles. One ovular nucleus. Ecology: mosses on trees. Monospecific. Type species: Amphizonella violacea Greef, 1866
