Genus Messemvriella

Shell is retort-shaped laterally, ovoid in ventral and dorsal view, circular in cross section. Fundus is round. Shell is covered with regularly overlapping siliceous scales. Aperture is subterminal, circular, surrounded by a collar, which is less developed than in Corythionella. Ecology: marine interstitial. Type species: Messemvriella filose Golemansky, 1972
