Описание:

Gliding biflagellates with rigid ovoid bodies dorsiventrally compressed; dorsal surface convex, ventral surface slightly dished. Flagella emerge from shallow, subapical, collared pit on its right hand side, anterior to nucleus. Anterior flagellum beats propelling organism forward; posterior flagellum deflected towards rear of organism and trails behind, unattached to body. Food ingested in to a capacious ventral antrum/pouch via a cleft continuous with the flagellar pit. Pseudopodia not observed. Single CV empties into antrum. Cavernomonas stercoris are very similar to Cavernomonas mira, but sometimes apparently larger; possibly dependent on culture conditions. Cell length 4–9 µm. Other morphological differences not strikingly obvious, but note sequence differences and organism from very different environments. (по: Bass et al., 2009)
