Cells are slender fusiform, tapering to a sharp point at both apices, widest in the middle. The size and shape of the episome and hyposome are similar and conical. A distinct elliptical bisected apical groove is present. Cells have 14 and 23 longitudinal surface striation lines in the episome and hyposome, respectively. The episome is twisted to the right, and the hyposome is twisted to the left. The sulcus and sulcal extension on the episome form a S-shaped line. The cingulum is displaced by 0.29 to 0.39 times the cell length. The length and width of living cells that were starved for 2 d were 23.9–38.2 and 12.0–18.6 µm. Cells contain pusule systems, a trichocyst, and a fibrous bundle. Chloroplasts are absent. Heterotrophic. (по: Yoon et al., 2012)
